Imbolc is the festival of the maiden because from this day to March 21st, it is the season to prepare for growth and renewal. This holiday is sacred to Brigid, the Celtic Goddess of fire, forge, and the hearth. A Brigid Cross, fashioned from wheat, is placed in the home as a symbol of protection and prosperity in the coming year. A ceremonial witch’s broom is set by the front door to symbolize sweeping out the old and welcoming in the new. Candles are lit and placed in each room of the house to honor the re-birth of the Sun.

This white candle is embedded with garnets and cosmos petals. White symbolizes purity, truth, sincerity, virtue of all kinds, and the highest spirituality. The scent is a combination of bergamot, grass, sage, lavender, cucumber, oakmoss, and violet. Garnet is a stone of fire and inspiration, and assists in owning one's gifts and abilities. Cosmos flowers help to eliminate blockages and provide the flow of life energy.

Meditation: I ask Brigid to light my way as I abandon that which no longer serves me and focus my energy toward the increasing new light that glows within.
